Chemical properties

Chlorinating agents, PCl3,PCl5,and SOCl2 with codeine turns a-chlorocodide, into B-chlorocodide. Also through hydrolysis will yield to make three codeine isomers. The isomer isocodeine will create codeine and two isomers,allo-codeine and allo-pseudocodeine oxidize to create pseudocodeinone which will then turn into 3,4,8-trimethoxy-phenanthrene
